The Pet Lodge has sponsored us for many events in the past.  Always happy to support any event or group that aims to help animals in need.  They have donated grooming certificates and lodging vouchers for years now.  Some of us bring our own dogs there for grooming and are very satisfied with the care and quality of their work.  We have brought some special needs dogs there, like some that have genuine behavioral problems. But, when among the pros, there is never a problem.  So they ask us - how come we have never have a problem with your dog but you do?  Yes, they know what they are doing when it comes to all aspects of the services that they offer.  Dog grooming, spa treatments, pet housing, nature walks. They sponsor dog training events on their spacious property as well.  Here is a picture of Blackie in training with Alice Harris at the Pet Lodge.

Here is more of an action shot where our mascot, formerly known as the "Donor Dog" because he was fated to be a blood donor for life.. now lives a dramatically different experience ... as an agility dog! Yeah!

So our dogs have really had a positive experience at the Pet Lodge.  peace4paws really appreciates that the Pet Lodge appreciates what we, and other groups like us, try to do for animals in need!

For more information about the Pet Lodge, please visit their website www.thepetlodgeandsalon.com and come meet them in person October 2nd, at Pawsfest 2011 in Westwood, New Jersey at Grace Episcopal Church.

We are delighted that Westwood Health and Fitness is sponsoring Pawsfest !    Family owned and operated Westwood Health & Fitness (WHF) is one of the best health clubs in Bergen County .  We are not saying that just because they are sponsoring Pawsfest.  Plenty of people in the Pascack Valley will be quick to tell you that the newly renovated, three story club loaded with state of the art fitness equipment, studio classes, and racquetball courts is a great place to de-stress from life’s endless litany of stressors!

But we will note that in 2010 WHF was voted the best in Bergen County for best gym/health club in (201) Magazine.

We interviewed a few members of WHF and here is what they have to say.

Pat Shepherd,

"I chose Westwood Health and Fitness because of it's welcoming atmosphere, lack of pretension, and great classes. The club is more of a community than a gym, which is why it gives me great pleasure to know that WHF is supporting the larger community by sponsoring Pawfest. It's good to know we can rely on
organizations like Peace 4 Paws and all their generous sponsors to maintain the health and welfare of the community which includes the non-human friends we
bring into our hearts and homes."

Joanna Gingerelli says “I am an avid supporter of both peace4paws and WHF.  I’ve been a member for ten years.  It’s a gym that’s like family. In my family animals are very important. We have three dogs and two cats, and they are our children.  I think it’s great that WHF is helping homeless animals. I wouldn’t want to join a gym that is unsupportive to our animal friends.  I think it’s great that WHF is helping homeless animals. I wouldn’t want to join a gym that is unsupportive to our animal friends. These animals depend on our support, and during this economic downturn financial support is more important than ever! ”

Daria Zupa, peace4paws supporter and WHF member says, “I have been exercizing regularly at WHF since my back surgery because at WHF I have the opportunity to choose activities that support my rehabilitation and stabilization of health.  They have lovely yoga and pilates instructors  such as Mary Beth, Alyssa, Brenda, and Jennifer.

Donna Muratschew said:

I have been doing pilates for at least ten years and it’s the best pilates around.  Pilates has opened me up to other classes and now I get a well balanced workout. I do kick boxing, spinning, step aerobics, pilates, yoga, cardio, and weights.  I also work full time but the schedule is so flexible I am able to fit it all into my week.

Mary Lee said:

Great instruction all around.  I go to a lot of classes and the instructors at WHF are great.  The staff is friendly and supportive.  Our situation is very unique as our gym in New Milford had to close and Westwood Health and Fitness really welcomed us and made us feel at home.  It’s a good fit.  I am not surprised that a gym that is so kind to people is kind to animals in need as well.

Now more than ever, the support of our generous benefactors is so greatly needed and appreciated.

There is probably a lot more good things to say about WHF and we may be adding some more info and pictures. But why not visit yourself and find out what it’s like there?  Westwood health and fitness is just across the street from the Grace Episcopal Church.  Check it out after Pawsfest or some other day.

On the WHF website http://www.gowestwood.com/ratesandspecials.htm and you will find the 30 Year Anniversary Special coupon for free one week trial membership and free fitness assessment session.   This health club is doing something good for animals, maybe it’s time you do something good for yourself and join a good gym like Westwood Health and Fitness.

We have had plenty of peace4paws meetings at Your Way Cafe ranging from small group pow wows to extended board meeting conferences in the back of the restaurant.  No matter the circumstance, Your Way Cafe is always accommodating.

Between us all and throughout our many visits, we have tried everything on the "you can customize too" always fresh menu, as well as on the gourmet Italian menu.

We were there when co-owner Pat approached us and asked, "What do you think about doggie dinning?   How about some doggie gelato and doggie entrees?"   Of course!  We howled with delight over that!  And recently we have been asking about gluten-free breads, and sure enough.. now they have it.. a whole gluten free menu!  This neighborhood place is always eager to listen to your dietary and medical needs and surpass your expectations .. and the bill is always unbelievably reasonable.  Alleluia !

Here are some pictures from our last wonderful dining experience. Our hound mascot, Blackie, and the gorgeous female hound, Ayla, who is generally found lounging about Westwood Pets, absolutely loved their entrees!   Check this out::

Oh, and by the way, did I mention that they have something for everyone at Your Way Cafe?.  They have an extensive menu made up of delectable salads (which they do customize for those of us with reflux and calorie concerns), paninis, hot and cold sandwiches and foods from the grill.

They even offer the option of breakfast all day and the omelets are to die for.   There must be some special ingredient or something.   It's not just that it's only $7.75 for an omelet, but it includes three ingredients, plus home fries or mesculan salad (not iceberg lettuce !) and bread and coffee or tea. The price alone is easy on a nervous stomach during these tough economic times.  peace4paws members and supporters eat peacefully at Your Way Cafe.

Your Way Cafe also offers soups made fresh daily and rivals any high-end restaurant in quality, creativity and texture. They have a really delicious Italian wedding soup and so much more. The list changes a lot because they have a huge stash of old Italian family secret recipes as well as a proclivity for developing and creating new concepts, even inspired from from events like the latest Harry Potter premier.

And, as it is a cafe, they offer amazing cafe-style beverages!  There is an endless plethora of herbal teas and cappuccinos to choose from.  A huge favorite of our group is the hot vanilla soy chai latte, which is always made to perfection. There are other flavors, too.   For those working out or needing a recovery from a career as a dog walker (and there are lots of those in our group), the healthy, yet satisfying strawberry banana shake with a protein shot, casein, or any one of the other choices, is always a huge favorite.

Most people, however, will succumb to one of the scrumptious desserts, no matter what they recorded on their weight loss "food list" that day.  But the fresh homemade gelato is actually very low in fat and calories compared to ice cream, so, that's not really cheating, right?

Anyway, our dogs weren't worried about calories. After their entrees and gelatos, they just beamed with joy that it was still summer and they were entitled to the royal treatment at the outdoor patio.

We really appreciate that Your Way Cafe is sponsoring peace4paws again.  They will be presenting some of their best Italian entrees and lunches for the pet lovers who come to experience Pawsfest 2011 coming up Sunday, October 2nd at the Grace Episcopal Church.

Not sure yet exactly what they will be cooking up.  We know their weekly menu specials offer unique flavors and pairings such as Pasta primavera, Home-style Lasagna, Baked Mac & Cheese, Baked Zit, Eggplant parmigiana.

So enjoy some of the finest food in Westwood just before or even after The Blessing of the Animals.  You will really have a lovely day.  Thanks for caring about the animals! See you there. peace4paws.
